1) Four telecommunications companies, Sierratel, Comium, Africell, and Airtel, now work in Sierra Leone and have effectively improved communication throughout the country. I see this form of globalization as beneficial to the country because globalization relies on interconnectedness. If there is not an effective method of communication among people around the world, there is no way for that interconnectedness to exist and therefore globalization cannot occur.
2) Several banks owned by foreign investors including International Bank, the Guaranty Trust Bank, the International the Commercial Bank, the Bank PHB, the union Bank for Africa, and the Union Trust Bank the International Zone and Trade Fair, and the Guiji Investment opened in Sierra Leone. This a form of positive economic interdependence because it opened up employment opportunities for Sierra Leoneans.
3) Sierra Leone is economically dependent on other countries to provide foreign aid which can be a negative interdependence. The country qualifies for the heavily indebted poor countries initiative that helps write off some of its debts. The negative thing about this is that the establishments who run this initiative get to make the policies for how much a country receives, and Sierra Leone is not receiving enough money to help its economy.
